Our addiction nurses work with clients suffering from substance misuse disorders in our Opioid Treatment Program Clinic in Westchester County. Substance use disorder and addiction nurses apply their knowledge of mental health and medicine to provide care for clients with substance misuse while working in community health centers. You will evaluate and monitor clients, screen for signs and symptoms of substance use disorders, provide support during recovery, implement treatment plans, offer emotional support, and administer medications to manage withdrawal symptoms and prevent relapse. The nurses that work within this program offer care to clients with varying levels of need at one location throughout the week.
This position requires that applicants be enrolled in a degree program that will grant them credit hours for their internship. Applicants must also be a nursing student.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:
 
  • Observe and assist with medication counts.
  • Observe and assist with medication pours.
  • Ensure client appointments are scheduled.
  • Assist in charting of client medical information.
  • Provide medication and wellness patient education.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONAL / ORGANIZATIONAL SUPPORT:
 
  • Patriciate in weekly supervision.
  • Additional assignments may be determined at a future date.
QUALIFICATIONS AND ATTRIBUTES:
 
  • Demonstrates cultural sensitivity and competency at all times.
  • Excellent communication skills.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Current nursing student. 
  • Prior experience in nursing is a plus.
PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS:
 
  • Must be capable to sit or stand in front of a computer for moderate-periods of time
  • Able to work in open space floor plan
  • Occasional lifting of > _15+ pounds
